Welcome to Wolcott Land Owners Protective Association (WLOPA)

WLOPA is a private shooting club nestled in 54 acres of beautiful Wolcott, CT.  We offer organized and informal trap and skeet shooting, pistol and rifle shooting, air rifle shooting, and hunting.  We conduct onsite pistol permit training courses, personalized handgun and rifle training, and we host several charitable community events.  We are located at 920 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT  06716, telephone number is:  203-879-9976.

The next monthly meeting is Friday, March 3rd 3rd, 2017 at 7pm at the club.  

 

NEED A PISTOL PERMIT?  The next Pistol Permit Class is scheduled for Sunday, March 19, 2017.  To register click the Pistol Permit bar on the left under "MainMenu" or the "Pistol Permits link" on left.  The class fee is $110 (pre-pay with registration form) and includes lunch.  We're the only organization that provides the pistol permit class, lunch and on-premises shooting in one location.  Class starts 9am in the clubhouse.

 

SPRING LEAGUE STARTS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19th, 4pm
The WLOPA Spring Trap League is starting up again, on Wed. 4/19/17, beginning at 4pm.  Trophies will be awarded to Top Gun, First Place Squad and Second Place Squad.  The cost for eight weeks is $140, due the first night.  This includes Targets, Shirt, Trophies & League Dinner with a Raffle for Ammo.  Sign up sheets are in the Trap Shack.  Contact Ron Kulmann for info:  johnkulmann@yahoo.com.  More details are in the Club Activities tab.

FRIENDS OF NRA DINNER March 24, 2017, 5:30pm
WLOPA will be sponsoring tables again at the annual Nutmeg Friends of NRA dinner at the Aqua Turf in Southington.  Stay tuned for more details.  When tickets are available, they will be located at the bar.  First come first served.

 

WLOPA GUN RAFFLE

Tickets go on sale February 28th for our gun raffle.  Tickets as usual are $10 each, books of 5 are $50.  1000 tickets to be sold.  The drawing is on May 28th.  The prizes are great, see below:

 

 

 

FUNDRAISER FOR SHRINER'S HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN
We are going to host a dinner in support of the Shriner's Hospital for Children on Saturday, May 20th at 6pm.  We hope to raise funds to help ailing children in need.  Tickets will be $25 per person and will be on sale at the club bar soon.  The menu includes roast beef, chicken parmesan, lemon chicken, ziti, mashed potatos, mixed vegetables, and salad and bread.  There will be a cash bar.  On that day the ranges will close early at 5pm.
 

BREAST CANCER DINNER
We will host another Breast Cancer Fundraiser Dinner in our hall on August 26th, from 5pm to 8pm.  Last year's event was so successful that we will have another dinner and bucket raffle to raise funds for Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Relief Fund for local residents in dire need.  Stay tuned for details---tickets will be on sale at the club bar and soon we will announce the menu.  There will be a cash bar.
 

REMINDER TO ALL RANGE SHOOTERS:
Pick up your brass and your shotgun shells, and please place them in the designated pails.  Make sure NO LIVE ROUNDS are thrown in the pails.  Live rounds or misfires must be discarded in the RED container marked "Duds Only".  The brass belongs to the club and is not to be taken off premises.  Also, no armored piercing rounds allowed on the ranges.

 

Past WLOPA events:
 

We held our Christmas Party on Dec. 10th and it was very well attended and all had a good time enjoying friendships and great food.  Thanks to all who helped with the Christmas Party and also the Handicap Christmas Party the following day, Sun. Dec. 11th.  Santa was there and entertained everyone.  A special thank you to Spartan II Restaurant in Plantsville who donated their time and food for the Handicap Party.  All the children and their family enjoyed the day.  Also, thanks to the many who volunteered their time to make this day fun for all.

 

The hunters raffle was held on December 11th, 2pm at the club.  The winners were:

 2nd Prize:  Ruger American .45 cal, 4-1/2", Steve Pape (member)

 5th Prize:  Smith & Wesson Victory Kryptek .22 cal, 5-1/2", Tony Calo
 6th Prize:  $50 gift certificate Sportsman's Outpost, Mike Ventresca (member)

 

A new Plate Shooting Program started in 2016 featuring .22lr pistol/revolver at the plate shooting range located to the left of the pistol range.  They held 3 events, with the last one very well attended.  Contact Matt Mildrum for info:  luv2flyfish@sbcglobal.net.

 

Ladies Day - We held another "Ladies Day" shoot on Sept. 17th, as part of our community outreach education events.  It was well attended and all the ladies who participated had the opportunity to learn gun safety and shoot pistol, rifle, and trap.  Thanks to Greg Gubitosi who ran this program.

 

Annual Fundraiser - Breast Cancer / WLOPA Relief Fund
On August 6, 2016, we held a fundraiser dinner to raise money for Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and the WLOPA Local Relief Fund.  Many people and many companies donated.  Approximately 125 people attended - - a great turnout.  The food was prepared by members, and many people volunteered to make this event a great success.  Thanks to Frank Noble for coordinating everything.

 

Hall Renovation - We finished the hall and bathroom renovation in August.

 

 

 

 

 

New storage garage for clay birds.  We finally got rid of all of the dilapidated trailers

 

 

 

The new Trap Office / Warm-up Hut is a beautiful addition replacing the old trap office
