WLOPA METALLIC SILHOUETTES

WLOPA is pleased to announce metallic silhouette competitions for .22 rimfire rifle, air rifle and air pistol. If you are unfamiliar with metallic silhouettes, it is one of those shooting sports that looks deceptively simple but can take a lifetime to master. Our events are held once a month alternating between Saturdays and Sundays. The complete schedule can be found on the WLOPA CALENDAR OF EVENTS.
40 round matches are shot at WLOPA and guests are invited to participate. We generally follow NRA rules with the exception of shooting banks of 10 animals over a five minute period as opposed to shooting two banks of animals over two 2.5 minute periods. That cuts in half the number of times our sorry A$$es need to be hauled downrange to reset animals. WLOPA offers both 5 pin and 10 pin awards for 'in a row' successes for all three events.
Shooting distances for the silhouette events
| .22 rimfire | air rifle | air pistol | |
| CHICKENS | 40 yards | 20 yards | 10 yards |
| PIGS | 66 yards | 30 yards | 12.5 yards |
| TURKEYS | 77 yards | 36 yards | 15 yards |
| RAMS | 100 yards | 45 yards | 18 yards |
Rules and Commands at WLOPA Silhouette Shoots are as follows
1. Sight-in or practice shots are allowed only during the designated 20 minute period prior to the start of competition on the silhouette range. This limited time is due to the fact that we do not have access to the range for silhouettes before 2pm. However, if you feel you need additional sight-in time, you may use the pistol range for as long as you wish for that purpose. Should all points on the pistol range become occupied by guest shooters preparing for silhouette competition, please keep your time to a minimum as to allow the WLOPA membership timely access to the pistol range.
2. All competitors begin on the CHICKEN target stage and progress to the PIG, TURKEY, and RAM target stages. When you are ready to shoot, request assignment of a scorekeeper, and get in line to shoot the CHICKENS.
3. At the end of your RAM target stage, please turn in your score sheet promptly to the statistics officer.
4. Firearms and airguns may not be loaded until the appropriate command is given by the match officer.
