Our next monthly meeting is Friday, February 24th, 7pm.

We are having free Driver Training Class sponsored by Bill Howard and the AAA motor club at our facilities on February 18th.  Hours are 9:00 to about 2:30 pm.  This is free to members and spouses.  Those interested need to sign up at the bar so we can get a head count. Attendees will receive a certificate that is honored by most auto insurance companies for premium discounts, which is a good thing.

Raffle tickets are available at the clubhouse.  A total of 6 prizes to be awarded.  Drawing to be held on Sunday, April 22nd after the CTA Registered Shoot.  Winners need not be present.  Only 1000 tickets will be sold at $10 each.  List of prizes:

For Skeet shooters, please help out if you can so that the work to maintain the skeet facilities does not fall on only one person.  The skeet house 5 and the 4 trap houses have to be loaded up for the winter.  Please help out if you can.

Reminder for all Range Shooters:  pick up your brass, and pick up your shotgun shells, and please dispose of them in the designated pails.

If anyone is interested in Archery, please contact Mike Conant at mec800@comcast.net.  The group is working through final construction and archery details.

Past WLOPA events:

We had our second annual "Exercise your 2nd Amendment Right" fun shoot on January 1st.  It was fun, lots of people shooting, weather was in the 40's.  Not bad.

Fall Cleanup was very successful.  This year we cleaned debris on two days, Saturday, Dec 3rd and Sunday, Dec 4th, 8:30 am to about 1:00 pm for Fall Cleanup.  There were many participating and the grounds look great.  Great job Mike Conant, the boss for the weekend cleanup activities.

We held another fun Silhouette Shoot on October 2nd.

The 4th Annual Breast Cancer Shoot / Emergency Relief Fund fundraiser was held on August 27th at 9am. The pre-Irene rainy weather did not deter people from having a good time. Frank Noble, the sponsor team, and everyone who helped did a fantastic job. The food was tasty, especially the award winning venison chili (thanks Doug). The raffle was a success, and the silent auction featured a Mossberg .308 ATR rifle donated by Mossberg (thanks George).

Our annual meeting was held on Friday Sept, 9th.  We had a great turnout.

We held another free Women's Self Defense class on Saturday, August 6th at the Club House.

Spring Cleanup was May 14th.  Spring League started in April and is in full swing.

On April 29th the membership voted to accept the Board's recommendation to contract for construction of a new storage building. This building will replace the trailers for storage of clay birds. Work is underway.

We held our fundraising RAFFLE on April 17th and some lucky winners won a Kimber Pro Raptor II .45, a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II .45, ammo and gift certificates to Mike's Sportsman's Outpost.  We sold most of the 1000 tickets.

Our March 25th meeting had a guest speaker, Representative Rob Sampson, who discussed 2nd Amendment issues in Hartford.  Thank you Rob Sampson.

The 2011 Friends of NRA dinner on March 18th was a great event and for a good cause.  WLOPA had 4 tables and the food was great, the silent auction, live auction, and many gun vendor products were fantastic.

We held a "New Years Day Fun Shoot" on Jan. 1, 2011 to start off the new year.  It was really warm (over 50 degrees) and there were several sport shooters at the rifle and pistol ranges.  Great job organizing this shoot Julian.

Come and visit us and see all of the improvements made to the clubhouse, grounds, ranges, especially our new Trap Office / Warm-up House (now finished).  We''ve fixed the drainage run-off in the Trap fields also.

New storage garage for clay birds.  We finally got rid of all of the dilapidated trailers

The new Trap Office / Warm-up Hut is a beautiful addition replacing the old trap office
