The President's Day Highpower Shoot at WLOPA

Participants in WLOPA's President's Day Shoot...Julian, DDay, Tommy, and Peter
Well, for a number of months now, Jules has been espousing the merits of having a highpower rifle shoot with military weapons. Personally, I avoided doing it as long as possible because 30 years ago, I got into HP in a big way when I lived in WVA, and learned that it is one of those shooting sports that just sucks you in! So, here we go again into the breach! A few weeks ago, I purchased an M1A that I let Peter use today while I shot my M48A Serbian Mauser. Jules shot one of his Garands whilst visiting shooter Tommy Lo fired his AR mousefart gun.
I really don't know how the idea of a President's day match came up.....I think it was because we all had the day off, and Jules suggested it. Regardless, the four of us had a great time making our way through WLOPA's first ever HP shoot. Aside from losing the staples for the targets, and getting my 308 and 8mm ammo mixed up, we slammed 200 yards downrange in prone, sitting, and standing slow/rapid fire strings. The scores we sooooo good that I promised everyone that they would not be posted here because it would make grown men weep at their lack of ability!
When all was said and done, Jules came out on top and Peter Morris placed second. . Given that Peter put more HP shots downrange today than he ever has fired previously, and the fact that he beat me with my own gun, I have only one things to say........Peter You Suck! (hahahhahha - the internet search engines will pick this up).... Didn't beat me by much though!
Really though, it was terrific to spend a day off with Jules, Tommy, and Peter..... I hope we get an opportunity to do it again soon.....
One question though - how do those bolt guys shoot the rapid-fire strings with any accuracy???? What a challenge!!!!
