BLUE BALLS
Blue Balls IV - The Orb Returns to Connecticut!
Blue Balls competition
The pinnacle of Airgunner Endurance!

Each year on the first Saturday in February, WLOPA-AIR sponsors the BLUE BALLS international ice cube shoot. The object of the Blue Balls is to obliterate 1" diameter blue ice cubes on sticks with airguns.
Sounds simple?
THINK AGAIN!

In February, the weather in New England is highly unpredictable, and past Blue Balls shoots have been conducted in sleet, single digit temperatures, and snowstorms where gusting winds have created virtual whiteout conditions. In conditions like this it is difficult enough to shoot accurately, but add in less than optimal airgun functioning in such conditions, and you've got a recipe for one of the most challenging airgun events imaginable.

The rules for Blue Balls are simple - 15 shots from a rifle at 30 yards from a field target position, and 15 shots from a pistol in a standing position. The rifle targets are placed at 30 yards, and the pistol targets are placed at 12 yards. After that - the challenge is to find a warm place to recover! Because Blue Balls is such an extreme sport, the prizes for the winner are always cool and for the last two years, a Beeman P-3 and a Daisy 747 have been awarded.
Blue Balls winners to date are:
2003 - David Bingham
2004 - Robb White
2005 - Gerry Lempicki
2006- George Blass
