WLOPA is a friendly shooting club nestled in 54 acres of beautiful
Wolcott, CT. We offer organized and informal trap and skeet
shooting, pistol and rifle range shooting, air rifle shooting, archery, and
hunting. We conduct onsite pistol permit training courses,
personalized handgun and rifle training, and we host many community
and charitable events.

Rifle Range Rules
The Rifle Range is
open to club members and guests only. Any caliber below .50 BMG is
allowed. Full automatic weapons and .50 caliber BMG are prohibited.
Rules are subject to change. It is the responsibility of the member to
know current rules.
1)
Always wear eye
and ear protection. This is MANDATORY; not an option.
2)
Keep firearms
pointed down range when loading, clearing or adjusting sights.
3)
Always keep
firearms unloaded until read to use.
4)
Always keep
finger off trigger until ready to fire.
5)
Make sure that
all firearms are safe, that the action is open and weapon is unloaded
prior to anyone going down range.
6)
No handling of
weapons or ammo when someone is down range.
7)
If a cease fire
is called, unload and make firearm safe immediately, step away from your
gun.
8)
Shoot at
authorized targets only, not at stands or supports.
9)
Do not shoot
above the backstop or into the tree line.
10)
Exploding
targets, cans, bottles, or ground targets are prohibited.
11)
No shooting
cross range.
12)
Clean up all
your casings and trash after you have finished shooting. Separate brass
from steel and aluminum cases and place in marked containers. Ammo
boxes, targets, cigarette butts, etc. go into the trash container.
13)
The member must
stay with the guest while he/she is shooting. The member is responsible
for his guest’s conduct while on club property.
14)
If all ports are
full, member and guest must share a port. Members have priority.
15)
If you
experience a misfire or weapon malfunction, ask for help from the Range
Officer.
16)
Place all
misfires in the red container marked “Duds Only”.
17)
Alcoholic
beverages are strictly prohibited on the range. Alcohol, illegal
substances and firearms do not mix.
18)
A police officer
may use the rifle range during normal operation hours.

Range is open daily from 10:00 a.m.
until ½ hour before sunset except:

During bird
hunting season – range open on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday
except for Thanksgiving and the Friday following ends at 10:59 a.m.*
§
Mon and Tues
ends at 9:45 a.m.
§
Saturday ends at
10:59 a.m.*
§
When posted on
the “Range Info” board
§
Skeet shooters
have priority from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m on Saturdays and Sundays.
*Ranges open for
shooting after 11:00 a.m.
Pistol Range Rules
The Pistol Range is
open to club members and guests only. Handguns of all calibers can be
used. Only .22 and .17 caliber rim fire rifles are allowed.
Full automatic weapons and center-fire rifles are prohibited. Rules are
subject to change. It is the responsibility of the member to know
current rules.
