A special thanks to George Blass for making new face plates to replace our wooden targets.  I'll be painting them this week and peter will be installing onto our Otten mechanisms.   Thanks George for your ongoing support of the program as well as helping to make our program a family oriented program.

Thanks to the support of the airgun shooters at WLOPA,  Peter Morris and I now have enough cash reserves to make some really interesting improvements to the WLOPA airgun range.....  Here is our plan:

Phase I:   All of the trees are going to be cleared out of lanes 11-14 as that is a relatively flat area of the range.  Once Cleared, all of the air-pistol metallic silhouette activities will be moved there.  This will free lanes 9-10 from being shared FT and Silhouette shooting areas, opening it up for more challenging FT targets.

Phase II:  Installation of shooting platforms.  So that we can get everyone onto a level shooting area for standing and FT positions, a 4X4 foot raised shooting area will be built at each FT station and silhouette station.

Phase III: A tubular structure will be built for the entire length of the FT course.  This structure will allow use of tarps during rainy shoot dats so everyone can stay dry.

The Connecticut State IPFTA championships were held today at WLOPA.  Peter Morris took top honors in the Standing Open Sights competition while DDay took the Any Position - Any Sights honors for the year.

In the Field Target event, Robb White literally smoked the course dropping only one point to win the Open Rifle event with his Styer LG 100.  Robb also took the piston event with his HW97.

The dates for the Red Ryder Turkey Shoot and Blue Balls 2005 have now been set!  The Connecticut State Championships for IPFTA and Rifle Field Target are fast approaching!  Check out the EVENT section of the website for more details.

The next planned updates to the Airgun range at WLOPA are shooting platforms and a covered area in the event of rain. OUr shoot on August 15th was a good one.  DDay came out on top in the rifle silhouettes while Peter Morris smoked the pistol silhouettes for the match high award.  In additon to 'in a row' pins we now have a very attractive MATCH WINNER pin that goes to the high scorer in both pistol and rifle regardless of classification or event type.

The IPFTA.NET website is up and running.  It is a work in progress, but hopefully, it will consolidate all IPFTA information in one place.

March 16, 2004   New York and Mass State championships are now sanctioned.  We've got a great summer of IPFTA matches scheduled in New England.

Dec 26, 2003

The Board of Directors unanimously approved suspension of any dues for membership into IPFTA.  As IPFTA exists primarily for the purpose of promulgating standards for pistol field target and sanctioning of state, regional, national and international championships, the board felt there was no need to charge dues for membership.

Nov 23, 2003 - IPFTA Inaugural Match

The inaugural match of IPFTA was held on November 23, 2003 at the Wolcott Landowners Association in Wolcott, CT.  The match proved to be distinctively challenging and humbling to many in attendance.  As a consequence of the match, a few minor changes were made to the IPFTA rules.  The biggest learning from the match was that field target mechanisms must be precisely set to assure knockdowns with pistols out to 25 yards.  Some pictures of the event can be found in the gallery section of the website.
