SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

1.  The 2006 USFT Nationals will  consist 120 record shots.  60 shots will take place on 15 lanes of the Highlands course, and 60 shots will take place on 15 lanes on the Wetlands course.

2.   AAFTA rules will be in effect for both the PCP and Piston divisions of competition. AAFTA rules can be found under the HANDBOOK tab at www.aafta.org

3.  WLOPA rules for the conduct of the Hunter demonstration class will be followed for persons participating in that venue.  These rules are an extension of  AAFTA rules to regulate this class of competition.  They can be found here.  NOTE that HUNTER CLASS  is a demonstration class and DOES NOT confer the right to the title of 'National Champion - Hunter Class' as no title exists within the current AAFTA rules designation.  Persons shooting in the HUNTER Class will  be eligible for awards in the PCP and PISTON classes of AAFTA competition depending on type of airgun used.

4.  Persons choosing to participate in the OFF HAND class will also be firing in the PCP or PISTON Division of competition based on the type of airgun being used.  Therefore, OFF HAND shooters will be eligible for awards in the PCP or Piston Divisions as well as the OFF HAND class.   NOTE that OFF HAND CLASS is a demonstration class and DOES NOT confer the right to the title of 'National Champion - Off Hand Class' as no title exists within the current AAFTA rules designation.

5.  The match will be conducted over a two day period - Saturday, October 7, 2006 and Sunday, October 8, 2006.

6.  Participants will be squadded on a random basis for the first day of competition and squadded based on score standings at the beginning of the second day of competition.

7.  Each participant will fire 60 record shots on the Highlands course and 60 record shots on the Wetlands course provided the weather on both days is suitable for competition.

8.  In the event of a rain day, at the discretion of the AAFTA Board of Governors, the match may be reduced to a total of 60 record shots with half of the shooters participating on the Highlands course and half of the shooters participating on the Wetlands course.  We hope that the weather cooperates, but it is better to plan in advance in case of inclement weather.

9.  Each participant will fire two record shots at each target.

10. Timers will be used in the competition.  Timing begins when the participant sits down or begins to assume shooting position.  One minute of preparation time will be given per lane followed by one minute per shot fired.  Consequently, if a shooter is firing in a lane containing two targets with two shots per each target, total firing time allotment for the lane per shooter will be 5 minutes.  If a lane contains only one target, total firing time allotment will be three minutes.

14. Tie-Breaking procedure:

The tie-breaker procedure will take place on firing lanes separate from the courses of competition that are constructed and reserved for the purpose of settling tie scores..  These lanes will only be used in the event that a tie-breaker is needed in any division or class of competition.  One lane will be constructed for the PCP Division, one lane for the Piston Division, and one lane for each of the demonstration classes.  Determination of shooter sequence in each division and class will be made by a draw of names from a hat with the first drawn name shooting first, second drawn shooting second, etc.  Each person shall have two minutes to execute one shot at the tie-breaker target, and when all shooters in the division/class have completed one round of fire, those who have missed a target will be dropped to the lower place ranking and those who have hit the target will continue to shoot additional rounds until only one shooter hitting the target remains. That shooter will be awarded the place for which the tie-breaker participants are competing.  Counts will then be made of all targets hit for those who are dropped to lower finishing positions to determine rank placement orders.  Additional tie breaker competition will then take place, as required, to settle lower-place rankings.

15.  Please be familiar with AAFTA rules governing field target competition before the start of the match. A copy of those rules can be found here:

16. Team applications will be taken on site at WLOPA on October 6, 2006.   There is no additional fee for participation on teams with 4 members.
