Divisions and
Classes of Competition and Awards
The Following Divisions and Classes of Competition and Awards will be provided at the 2006
Nationals
PCP DIVISION National Champion through 5th place
AAFTA rules apply
PISTON DIVISION National Champion through 5th place
AAFTA rules apply
HUNTER CLASS 1st through 5th place (note that this is a demonstration class and DOES NOT confer the right to the title of 'National Champion - Hunter Class' as no title exists within the current AAFTA rules designation). Hunter Class shooters will be eligible for awards within the PCP and PISTON Divisions as defined by AAFTA rules based upon type of airgun used. *
Off-HAND CLASS 1st through 5th place (note that this is a
demonstration class and DOES NOT confer the right to the title of 'National
Champion - Standing Class' as no title exists within the current AAFTA rules
designation). OFF-HAND Shooters will be eligible for awards within the
PCP and PISTON Divisions as defined by AAFTA rules based upon type of airgun
used. *
Team applications will be taken on site at WLOPA on October 6, 2006. There is no additional fee for participation on teams with 4 members.
The following rules currently used at WLOPA will apply to
Hunter Class, UNLESS specific rules are adopted by the Board of Governors prior
to October 6, 2006. Note that Hunter Class is not recognized by AAFTA,
therefore a National Champion award will not be given.
Airguns allowed: Any PCP, CO2, Pump, or Spring airgun of .22
caliber or less not exceeding 20 FPE at the muzzle and having a sporter stock
WITHOUT adjusted features such as comb, knee riser, buttplate etc.
Participants wishing to use rifles with such adjustable features will have their
guns locked into a position which simulates a standard sporter stock as
determined by the match director.
Scopes allowed: Any scope not exceeding 12X magnification and of any reticle configuration (e.g. Mil-Dot) may be used. Scopes of higher power may be used but can never be adjusted above 12X during the course of fire. Elevation and Windage adjustments may not be changed or altered in any setting or fashion during the course of fire. Focusing of the scope to provide a sharp target image is allowed, but focusing shall not be used for range determination. All distance markings and indicators on the scope will be masked by the match director prior to commencement of competition. Laser sights and range finding devices are not allowed.
Shooting positions: AAFTA rules for allowable positions apply.. The use of support devices for stabilizing the airgun other than those allowed in the PCP and Piston divisions will NOT be allowed.
Note: On all of the above, compliance judgment will be the sole prerogative of the Match Director.
* Any gun, scope combination etc. No sticks please. Jackets and gloves are OK. Note that Off-hand and Hunter classes ARE NOT recognized by AAFTA, therefore participation in these classes does not confer the title of 'National Champion' for either class.
Additional Awards will be provided as follows:
Junior - 1st through 3rd place
High Female Shooter
High Senior Shooter (Age 65+)
High Team
Team applications will be taken on site at WLOPA on October 6, 2006. There is no additional fee for participation on teams with 4 members.* (Teams of 5 are allowed with lowest shooter score dropped from the total)
A special note: Targets are set to fall with a kill zone hit from pellets with 4ft lb and greater of energy. If you plan on shooting an airgun with an extremely low muzzle energy please be advised that it may not actuate targets with kill zone hits at longer distances..
