Annual Breast Cancer Shoot / Emergency Relief
Press Release:
The Wolcott Land Owners will hold it's Fourth fund
raiser on August 27, 2011 starting at 9 am. The Wolcott Club which has
been around since 1933 is trying again this year to raise money, as it
has in the last three years, for Breast Cancer research and to help
someone in need. The club has managed to raise in the last three events
a little over $30,000.00. We keep hoping the event will catch on and
more people will participate. The poor economy has not helped but this
is a worthwhile cause and every little bit helps.
Events this year: there will be Trap, Skeet, 22 Rifle and Pistol
shooting. Trap and Skeet shooters are required to raise $100.00 through
sponsor donations as their entry fee. Pistol and 22 Riffle shooters are
required to raise a $20.00 entry fee through sponsor donation. First
time shooters are welcome to participate in 22 Riffle and Pistol
shooting. Pistols and 22 Riffle's will be provided if needed. 22 Riffle
event has been added to this years shot.
The Wolcott Sport shooting club at 920 Woodtick Rd, Wolcott, is seeking
participants for the events listed and any donated items to use in the
silent auction the day of the shoot. Donations can be actual items or
gift certificates. The Trap,Skeet shoot includes 100 shots. In addition
to the $100.00 entry fee there is a $22.00 fee for targets. The pistol
shoot is 22 shots: ten shots with a 22 caliber pistol and twelve with a
38 caliber pistol. There is a $5.00 charge for ammunition in addition to
the $20.00 entry fee. Pistols will be provided or you may bring your
own. 22 Riffle shot will be 20 shots for a $20.00 entry fee plus $5.00
for targets and ammunition. 22 Cal riffles will be provided or you may
bring your own.
The Wolcott Land Owners which has Trap, Skeet, Pistol, Air Riffle and
now Bow Shooting ranges, tries to attract a wide range of shooters to
their club. A quote from club president, Hans Justus: "People need to be
trained and respect guns. The mere presence of a gun can prevent
violence". The club also offers pistol classes which peole need to have
before they can get a pistol permit. Self Defense classes for women are
offered at no charge at the club. These classes are important in today's
world. Spectators are welcome to attend, there is no charge to watch the
events take place. There will be food for sale during the shoot with
soft drinks and the bar will be open after the shooting concludes.
